Bride and Groom Speeches – Make Sure They Complement Each Other

In my preparation of my groom wedding speech, I actually learned the lesson above the hard way and that is why I want you to avoid the same mistake.

One of the earliest decision that you must make is to decide whether your bride will be giving a bride speech as well.  There is no hard and fast rule here. I have been to weddings where the groom is the only one that gives the grooms speech as he speaks on behalf of the bride as well.  There are others where the bride and the groom each have their wedding speeches.

Whatever that has been decided, it would be best then to sit down together and brainstorm on the topics that both of you want to cover in your wedding speeches. Discuss the ideas of the bride and grooms wedding speeches and list them down together.

After that is done, you would have 2 choices.

The first is to split the topics between yourselves so that each one of you covers different topics in your wedding speech.  This is to make sure that  your topics are NOT repetitive.

The other choice is for both of you to cover some common topics but each have a slightly different angle to it. I have seen that work well too as they seem to complement each other. Sometimes the bride speeches can be an eye-opener as well.

As I mentioned earlier, the important reason for doing this to make sure that the groom speech and the bride speech are not repeating the other.

My only advice to you is to work on this wedding speeches early and you will be richly rewarded for your effort.
